Outrage about potential storylines hits fever-pitch heights as we enter the final stretch, and it is no surprise that emotion runs high with the events of 1997 about to play out. But this is not a reenactment nor a docuseries, and Peter Morgan’s drama-infused telling shouldn’t be assessed based on accuracy or who it will offend.

But reviews dipped a bit for last year’s Season 5, which means all eyes will be on how the show’s sixth and final season does as it premieres. And to send off “The Crown,” Netflix has broken up Season 6 into two parts, with the first hitting the streamer next month.

You can also lump in Ti West’s “X” trilogy, which began as a cheap slasher but in very short order, has turned into one of the most interesting horror franchises of the past decade.

Season four was set between 1979 and 1990, is set during Margaret Thatcher’s 11-year run as prime minister, and also introduced Lady Diana Spencer into the series. The fifth season of “The Crown” is set entirely in the 1990s and, in doing so, ages up a lot of the characters who are now played by new actors.

Oh, and it’s in the mix for a Best Picture nomination (no, it’s not a lock, it’s 2020 people). I know, this wasn’t the news you were expecting. He’s only directed two Best Picture nominees over the past decade, been nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay (twice). But even with a spotlight on it harsher than Tom Hardy trying to emote through a Bane mask, it’s going to be in play for a number of reasons.

From her supporting roles in films like “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” to more lead roles in films such as the recent “Widows,” the actress is definitely a commanding presence on screen. (She’s also great in “The Night Manager” TV series.) And this is something that was obvious to Christopher Nolan, when he was casting “Tenet.” Unfortunately, Debicki’s skills on screen were so good, it almost pulled her out of contention for the action epic.

And that shift in tone and plot is perfectly shown in the new trailer for the film.

But now, just days before the year ends, the trailer for the new Nolan film has appeared: the super-secretive “Tenet.”

That’s right, even though the film is technically still more than half a year away, we finally have some first look images for “Tenet.”

Not much is known about “Tenet” and, unfortunately, the images don’t do a whole lot to explain what we can expect from Nolan’s upcoming film that is officially described (via EW) as “an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.” So, it feels quite obvious that the two images, both featuring star John David Washington, have a very James Bond-ian vibe to them, in so much that they feature well-dressed people that very well could be suave spies.

If you want to see the best, perhaps most pure, version of a film, watch the original. But yet, we live in a world where English-language remakes are still all the rage, and sometimes, just sometimes, they become something special in their own right (“The Departed,” “Magnificent Seven,” “The Birdcage,” to name a few).

One is the current alderman, Tom Mulligan (Robert Duvall), the other is his son Jack (Colin Farrell), angling to take over his dad’s seat, who warns that if they can’t crush an outsider candidate, “we won’t have a pot to piss in.” His father, referencing a pricey piece of modern art the younger man has just finished showing off, retorts, “Says the man with the $50,000 piece of wallpaper.”

Instead of pursuing the type of fare one would usually associate with the Oscar category, McQueen dips his hand into the pulp of the crime genre.
