For two actors who have seemed almost inseparable since they burst onto the scene in Alfonso Cuarón’s “Y Tu Mamá También,” Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal actually haven’t acted together much. Sure, they recently went toe-to-toe with Bert and Ernie in a friendship quiz, but in terms of screen time, the duo has only appeared in three films together, counting ‘También’” ‘and the Will Ferrell curio “Casa de mi Padre.” Thus, Hulu’s first Spanish-language series, “La Máquina,” feels like something of a homecoming for the two stars.

If the name Steven D. Bingley-Ellison doesn’t sound familiar, well, Bingley-Ellison is also the Grammy-winning American record producer, DJ, filmmaker, and rapper known as Flying Lotus. Lotus has released seven studio albums, but he actually attended the Los Angeles Film School and Academy of Art University, and he’s putting his film degree to good use with his latest cinematic effort, “Ash.”

“Ash” is an upcoming science fiction thriller film in which a woman wakes up on a distant planet to find that the crew of her space station has been killed.

“3 Body Problem,” the sprawling and ambitious new sci-fi-ish geopolitical mystery drama Netflix series from “Game Of Thrones” creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo (“The Terror: Infamy,” “True Blood”), is difficult to describe in any kind of succinct form—perhaps your first clue about its overall problems. And indeed, there’s a fine line between complex and convoluted (and yes, some spoilers will eventually be broached).

After “The Gentlemen,” is “3 Body Problem” the most anticipated Netflix series release of Q1 2024? Most definitely, and for several reasons. For one, it’s D.B. Weiss and David Benioff‘s return to prestige TV after the ill-fated final season of “Game Of Thrones.” It’s also an adaptation of Liu Cixin‘s 2008 novel, the first in what’s arguably the most heralded sci-fi trilogy of the past two decades.

No one is moving quite like filmmaker Guy Ritchie these days. The director will likely have two projects out in 2024 and maybe even three, with a fourth beginning production. First, there’s “The Gentleman” Netflix series spin-off, which he directed and wrote, and it arrives in March. One month later, Ritchie returns, this time to cinemas and the big screen with Lionsgate’s “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare.”

Guy Ritchie loves working with the same actors over and over again. So is it any surprise that Eiza González joins his upcoming pic “Fountain Of Youth“? Deadline reports that the actress joins John Krasinski and Natalie Portman on the Apple adventure film, her third Ritchie film in a row. “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare“ with Henry Cavill and González hits theaters on April 19, while an untitled actioner with Cavill, González and “The Covenant” star Jake Gyllenhaal is in post-production now.

You’ll remember when “Game Of Thrones” was ending, creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were planning their exit strategy and what’s next. At first, it was Lucasfilm that announced a new deal to launch a new Jedi trilogy for “Star Wars.” Then they signed an even bigger deal with Netflix, and “Star Wars” got canceled (or they dropped it anyhow).

Flying Lotus (aka Steven Ellison) has already made a name for himself in the music business as a Grammy Award-winning rapper, producer, and composer. But the multi-hyphenate dabbles in film production, too, like his 2017 feature debut “Kuso,” which had its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. There’s also his installment in the “V/H/S/99” horror anthology from last year, which he wrote, directed, and scored himself.

Black Bear International already has one buzzy film at the Cannes market this year with “Shell,” a thriller starring Elisabeth Moss, Kate Hudson, and Kaia Gerber. Say what you will about Michael Bay and his cinema bombast, but the guy knows how to make an epic thriller that usually needs to be seen on the big screen. His latest film, “Ambulance,” is a thriller based on the original story and screenplay for the 2005 Danish film “Ambulancen” written by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen. He’s also convinced a pretty terrific cast to join him in his endeavor: Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza González.

Jake Gyllenhaal has enjoyed remaking some Danish films of late. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence, but early this year, Gyllenhaal remade the Danish film “The Guilty” with director Antoine Fuqua, and now he’s starring in yet another Danish remake. This one is “Ambulance,” based on the 2005 Danish film of the same name by Laurits Munch-Petersen. This new 2021 “Ambulance” stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as two bank robbers who steal an ambulance occupied by a paramedic (Eiza González) and a patient in critical condition.
