With filming now underway, Todd Phillips and the cast for the highly anticipated and most likely, very raunchy “The Hangover 2” has now begun the race to reach its release date of May 26, 2011 which is only a mere seven months away.

Some first set photos have arrived and they are unsurprising. Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms are back and as we’ve all known for months now, they are headed to Thailand.

“Due Date” is a somewhat divisive film prospect at The Playlist; half of us have enjoyed the clips and trailers we’ve seen from the film so far, while half of us feel that the advertising, at least, has been a little lazy and lowest-common-denominator. Either way, the movie, which opens in November, is likely to be one of the biggest hits of the season. Even with an R-Rating, the reteaming of Todd Phillips and Zach Galifianakis, the director and star of comedy megahit “The Hangover,” and adding arguably the biggest movie star in the world right now, Robert Downey Jr, to the mix can only result in a colossal haul of money, particularly considering that the trailer’s played like gangbusters to audiences in theaters every time we’ve seen it.

A new international trailer for Todd Phillips’ “Due Date” has landed and while amusing and funny, don’t get too excited.

Essentially, the first 20 seconds of the trailer are new and the rest we’ve already seen in previous trailers, but hell, not every reader will realize this and it is a picture we’re looking forward to.

Here’s an image of Jack Black in “Gulliver’s Travels,” a film we care so little about we don’t have the energy to provide more context. Next to that is a new photo of Matt Reeves’ “Let Me In,” starring Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee from “The Road.”

An Americanized remake of the Swedish vampire film, “Let The Right One In,” Reeves says he’s well aware that some fans of the original have called for a boycott of his version.

We’re greatly looking forward to Todd Phillips’ highly anticipated follow-up to “The Hangover” which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis.

However, the poster for “Due Date”? Mmm, not so much, especially not the weird photoshopping of Galifianakis’ face.

Co-starring Jamie Foxx, Michelle Monaghan and the RZA, the film is a road trip story about a businessman (Downey Jr. ) racing across the country for his child’s birth, sidelined with the unwanted problem of a wannabe actor (Galifianakis) and his French bulldog.

The first trailer for Todd Phillips highly anticipated followup to “The Hangover” and we’re slightly….underwhelmed.

Granted, this is a very early glimpse at the film that focuses heavily on its two lead stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis with only a brief look at Jamie Foxx and none of Michelle Monaghan and RZA. That being said, it basically looks like Galifianakis is playing the same manchild character from “The Hangover” while the very funny Downey Jr.

For a guy who in interviews we read last year, didn’t seem too eager to get sucked up in the Hollywood machine, we don’t know any actor who’s been attaching himself to more projects than Zach Galifianakis.

The latest comedy to get a boost from the in demand comedian is “Miracle Workers.” Speaking with ShockTilYouDrop, producer Michael Aguilar confirmed the actor is attached to the “supernatural comedy” about a guy who “is put on a path that has him posing as an exorcist with a pal.

A new image from Todd Phillips’ upcoming road-trip comedy “Due Date” has been unveiled at IMDB.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, his perm and a French bulldog, the film centers on an uptight, expectant father who must team up with a man-child, aspiring actor on a road trip in order to reach his wife before she gives birth.

Michelle Monaghan and Jamie Foxx lead the supporting cast as Downey Jr.’s character’s wife and best friend while Juliette Lewis, Alan Arkin, the RZA, and Matt Walsh also co-star.

Alright, once again, we’re throwing down the gauntlet. You’re looking at 10-15 films for 2010? We’ve upped our game from last year and covered 81 films in total (our headline is 75-something cause not all of them might arrive in 2010).

Looking at last year’s 60+ most anticipated films list and then compare it to 2010’s slate. No disrespect to those delivering films in 2010, but it’s just not quite as strong. At least not on the surface, but there’s still tons of good films arriving including a new Terrence Malick film and new pictures by Christopher Nolan, David O.

Robert Downey Jr., a cute French bulldog and Zach Galifianakis sporting what looks to be a perm or jheri curls. It’s some ghastly hair for sure, but that’s probably the genius of director Todd Phillips.

It’s your first look at Phillips’ post-“The Hangover” feature called, “Due Date” and the concept doesn’t sound radically different.

“The Hangover,” is of course about four guys on a Vegas trip that lose the groom and have to get him home on time for his wedding.

Here’s a soft, warmed-over kind of report today if you’re interested on the status of “The Hangover 2.” Director Todd Phillips — who co-wrote some of his old classic comedies (“Old School”), but did not write this year’s frat-com classic — says the sequel to the Vegas-set bachelor party comedy is half-finished, will reunite the three leads (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Galifinakis), but won’t recycle the same setting or concept.

Wu Tang Clan’s the RZA has been cast in Todd Phillips’ upcoming 2010 comedy, “Due Date,” which started filming a few weeks back.

The rapper/actor/polymath/ genius, who also signed on to Paul Haggis’ “The Next Three Days” recently, joins stars Robert Downey Jr, Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan and Jamie Foxx.

The logline of “Due Date,” is about a high-strung father-to-be (Downey Jr.) is forced to hitch a ride with a college slacker (Galifinakis) on a road trip in order to make it to his child’s birth on time (Monaghan plays his wife).

Jamie Foxx Gets A ‘Due Date’ With Todd Phillips

Jamie Foxx is ready to return to his comedic roots by joining the cast of Todd Phillips’ “Due Date.” Foxx, whose last comedy was the best-forgotten “Breakin’ All The Rules” five years ago, and who got his start on the Fox sketch comedy show “In Livin’ Color,” had pretty much pulled a Tom Hanks lately, signing exclusively to Oscar-baiting fare since his career changing turn in “Ray.” (Although his latest film, “Law Abiding Citizen” opening this fall, may turn out to be unintentionally hilarious if the trailers are any indication.)

Foxx will join a helluva cast, playing the best friend to leading man Robert Downey Jr.

Michelle Monaghan Joins ‘Due Date’, First Trailer for ‘Valentine’s Day’

– In news that will delight Harry Lockhart fans the world over, Michelle Monaghan is to re-team with “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” co-star Robert Downey Jr. in Todd Phillips’ “Due Date,” where Downey Jr. will play a man desperately trying to return to his pregnant wife (Monaghan) before she gives birth. Zach Galifianakis will play ‘a mismatched traveling companion,’ or, essentially, the John Candy role in “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” We’ve got the script lying around somewhere, but if “The Hangover” is anything to go by, the script will bear almost no resemblance to the finished project anyway…

Grant Heslov’s “The Men Who Stare At Goats” which will premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival has now been given a November 6th U.S. release date.

Starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges, the quirky dark comedy film is inspired by Jon Ronson’s non-fiction book of the same name which centers on the government’s attempts to garner paranormal abilities to combat its enemies.

A recent script review revealed that “Due Date” will follow a “worrywart” protagonist and a man-child who are kicked off a plane together and are forced to take a road trip in an attempt for the protagonist to return home in time for the birth of his child.

Both Zach Galifianakis and Todd Phillips recognize they have a good thing going.

The unexpected breakout success of “The Hangover” ($210 million plus! It’s currently the second-highest R-Rated comedy ever), put them both on the mainstream map and Galifianakis was easily recognized as the comedic ace in the hole of the picture.

Just a few days ago, it was reported that the bearded comedian was mulling over three different potential Phillips projects, one of them being “Man-Witch,” a project that once had Jack Black attached.
