Before the release of Luca Guadagnino’s “Queer,” the film was the subject of online chatter about its runtime. Early rumors pegged the duration at over three hours, and its announcement in Venice Film Festival’s lineup initially listed 151 minutes before adjusting to the premiere’s length of 135 minutes. The Italian director claimed one aim of adapting the titular novel by William S. Burroughs with his “Challengers” screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes was to finish the unfinished text.

Few Netflix series have done as well with YA audiences as “Outer Banks,” an adventure series about two packs of teens searching for buried treasure off the North Carolina coast. So it’s no surprise that the streamer wants to make the Season 4 series premiere a deluxe event. The new teaser for the show announces that S4 will hit Netflix in two parts this Fall: five episodes premiering on October 10, and five more arriving on November 7.

The New York Film Festival‘s main slate got some major additions earlier this week with the likes of Sean Baker‘s Palme d’Or-winning “Anora,” David Cronenberg‘s “The Shrouds,” and Brady Corbet‘s “The Brutalist.” Now the festival adds yet another major new film to its ranks: Luca Guadagnino‘s “Queer.” After Guada’s William Burroughs‘ adaptation has its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in competition for the Golden Lion, it’ll have its US premiere as NYFF’s Spotlight Gala on October 6.

Variety reports that Luca Guadagnino will start shooting “Queer,” his next feature, in Rome this month now that he’s wrapped post-production on “Challengers,” in theaters this September. This marks the most rapid creative pace for Guadagnino in his whole career: three films in as many years. That’s great news for Guada fans.
