‘Dedication’: Daisy Ridley Teaming With Martin Campbell On A New Action Film

Daisy Ridley has made some interesting career choices after her run of “Star Wars” films ended in 2019. Since then, she’s appeared in several unique dramas and thrillers. And it appears she’s going to be a full-on action star with her next film, titled “Dedication.”

According to Variety, Daisy Ridley is reteaming with filmmaker Martin Campbell on the upcoming action-thriller, “Dedication.” The film tells the story of a young Marine Corps.

Justin Theroux Tapped To Write Iron Man 2 Sequel

Two things: Someone must be a pretty happy camper right now. And Paramount/Marvel must really like “Tropic Thunder.”

And considering he’s only got one real screenwriting credit to his name – the aforementioned ‘Thunder’ co-penned with Ben Stiller – actor/director Justin Theroux must be feeling like a very lucky bastard right now as he’s been tapped to write “Iron Man 2.” Wait, how’s that? He’s got one screen writing credit to his name for a summer comedy that’s untested and hasn’t come out yet and now he’s writing the sequel to the year’s second biggest film money-wise?

Preview: “Dedication” & Musical Overview

What a nice surprise “Dedication” was. The cynical (us, sometimes), may have seen this as another “Garden State,” but there’s no emo man-child finding his way through life, nor is there a spoiled brat declaring, “this band will change your life” (and thank Christ for that).

Billy Crudup stars as Henry, an extremely fucked-up, pathologically OCD children’s story writer. The always fantastic Tom Wilkinson plays Rudy his long-time friend, father figure and illustrator.

“Dedication” Gets Final Tracklist

As we wrote about a week or so back Deerhoof have recorded the score to the new Mandy Moore movie, “Dedication,” starring Ms. Moore, Billy Crudup and directed by Justin Theroux (of “Six Feet Under” and the recent group of David Lynch players).

As we revealed before, a ton of Deerhoof songs, and tracks by Fischerspooner, Cat Power, Au Revoire Simone and the Strokes were used in the film and Pitchfork, who has the final tracklist, reveals the names of the Edward Shearmur score compositions and a track by Isaiah Ross and Buddy Moss.

Strummer Gets November Release; Biggie Gets Unknown; “Dedicated” Soundtrack (Mostly) Finalized

The North American rights to Julien Temple’s documentary, “Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten” has been acquired by IFC. The film will finally get a proper U.S. release date on November 2. The soundtrack, which we already wrote about, has been out for months features 20 music tracks including three previously unreleased Clash tracks (demos) and an unreleased version of reggae classic, “Natty Rebel” by dubmaster U-Roy, among other tracks influential to the late Strummer (Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan; the rest of the tracks are audio excerpts from the film).

Deerhoof Score New Mandy Moore Movie; No Really…

Ok, so it’s not exactly the new Mandy Moore movie per se (unless say you’re People or Us Weekly about it). It’s more like the new Justin Theroux movie. Whooooo? The actor (you might know him from appearances in “Muholland Drive,” and the pre-ejaculator in “Sex In The City”), who just completed his feature OCD rom-com debut, “Dedication,” that stars priceless Mastercard thespian Billy Crudup and the aforementioned doll Moore (not to mention the very excellent Tom Wilkinson).
