The modern laws of creative bankruptcy and burdens of Peak TV insatiability essentially demand that every movie is turned into a TV series these days. If it’s a movie property that’s idling, but doesn’t feel like it’s big-screen appropriate, chances are someone is turning that into a TV series. Case in point, “Hanna,” the new Amazon Prime series about a teenage assassin.

“Hanna” is an adaptation of the 2011 action adventure thriller film that contains some prominent fairy tale elements, directed by Joe Wright (“Anna Karenina“) and starred Saoirse Ronan.

We don’t need to remind you that movies are more frequently becoming fodder to spark TV reboots — all you have to do is take a spin around the small screen dial, or dive into the Hollywood trades on any given week, and you’ll find more than a few projects either already airing, or in development. And now another is joining the pile.

NBCUniversal International Studios and Tomorrow Studios are teaming up for a TV take on Joe Wright‘s thriller “Hanna.” The 2011 film starred Saorise Ronan as the titular teenage girl, raised with the lethal skills of an assassin by her ex-CIA father, only to wind up on the run when the agency comes gunning for the pair.

The USC Libraries announced the winners of the 2017 USC Scripter Award Saturday night which is awarded to the screenwriter and the author of the material the film or television program is based on.  And, in the television category at least, there was a rare tie.

“The Night Manager” (David Farr, John Le Carré) and “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” (Scott Alexander and Larry Kraszewski, Jeffrey Tobin) both took the television prize.
