This year will mark the end of the critically acclaimed series “Atlanta” as Donald Glover branches out to focus on other things. Glover will co-star in the upcoming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” remake series at Amazon Prime Video alongside Maya Erskine (“Pen15,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi‘) and he’s currently writing the show’s finale. With “Atlanta” ending, Glover seems to be keen to clear the air concerning some previous comments made about “Dave.”

Glover was asked to interview himself for Interview Magazine and the topic of “Dave” came up as the “Atlanta” creator had been vocal on Twitter (See below) about folks making comparisons between the two shows.

The first season of “Dave” made rapper Lil Dicky—real name Dave Burd—more powerful than his non-believers could have ever imagined. In the crowded landscape of TV, the series that riffs on Burd’s dreams of being the biggest rapper in the world became FX’s most-watched comedy of all time, beating out previous favorites like “Atlanta” among others. The brilliant first five episodes of Season 2 prove this was no fluke, especially as the writers find even more gold in the show’s polarizing premise: the story of a white rapper’s rise, with storylines and ensemble members that call out the character at its center.

With the finale of “Mare of Easttown” behind us, it will be curious to see which series becomes the next hotly anticipated and picked apart weekly series.
