What Pixar excel at, seemingly, is mix wistful coming of age stories about childhood or growing up and mix it with a fantasy element. And they’ve done that very thing for “Luca,” a new Disney/Pixar movie set on the Italian Riveria that mixes boyhood friendship with a tale of a seaside monster.

Despite a Best Director Oscar nomination and massive critical acclaim he didn’t take a studio feature or sell a series to a streaming network. Instead, he and his sister, Eliza, were writing. And scouting for unspoiled locations.

The producers, led by Barbara Broccoli, have very distinct ideas about what makes a good ‘Bond’ film, which is why we’ve seen issues with directors in the past, assurances that the character will never be female, and now, changing the music for a film, “No Time to Die,” just months before it’s set to be released around the world.
