Since then, she’s appeared in several unique dramas and thrillers. And it appears she’s going to be a full-on action star with her next film, titled “Dedication.”

According to Variety, Daisy Ridley is reteaming with filmmaker Martin Campbell on the upcoming action-thriller, “Dedication.” The film tells the story of a young Marine Corps.

They haven’t had a film on screen since 2019. Yesterday, filmmaker James Mangold said his “Dawn Of The Jedi” movie (a working title) could be shooting as early as next year, which instantly puzzled fans because most thought the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy-directed movie featuring Daisy Ridley’s Rey, dubbed unofficially, “The New Jedi Order” by fans, would be the next “Star Wars” film to come to theaters after Jon Favreau’s May 2026 film, “The Mandalorian And Grogu.”

Then, seemingly lousy news hit this morning when it was revealed that the film’s longtime writer, Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders,” “Spencer”), had exited the project (something fans had already speculated about for months).

Many were up in arms about Rian Johnson’s “The Last Jedi” and even J.J. Abrams’ “Rise Of Skywalker,” which no one seemed to enjoy fully. Asked about the fan backlash to “Star Wars” on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Daisy Ridley suggested it was both distressing and part of the gig.

While “The Mandalorian And Grogu” might be the next “Star Wars” film to hit theaters (and if it does, the next available release date is May 2026), there’s also another one nipping at its heels.

Even though those ended in 2019 and she has gone on to make other films, the proverbial stink of “Star Wars” lingers all around Ridley to this day. (It sure won’t help matters that she is expected to return to the franchise in the future.) But for those hoping to see Ridley do more than swing a lightsaber and talk about The Force, you should probably check out “Sometimes I Think About Dying.”

As seen in the trailer for the film, “Sometimes I Think About Dying” tells the story of a lonely woman, Fran, who is perfectly content with living her quiet life, working in her cubicle, and… well, not much else.

And with three upcoming films announced at last months Star Wars Celebration, the “Star Wars” universe has plenty to be excited about on the holiday this year. But it’s also almost four years since “The Rise Of Skywalker” hit theaters: quite a long time for fans to wait for the next blockbuster set in a galaxy far, far away…

Originally planned as a trilogy with three different filmmakers helming each “episode,” the Sequel Trilogy was going to close out the Skywalker Saga that George Lucas began decades prior. Unfortunately, after the massive success of ‘The Force Awakens,’ things went off the rails a bit, as ‘The Last Jedi’ shook things up a bit too much perhaps, and ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ was seen as a colossal failure in nearly every way.

It’s a statement. This particular character isn’t trying to be profound. They are just exasperated. And for Fran (Daisy Ridley), the sentiment seems to resonate with her more than the person evoking it could ever realize.

That’s putting it lightly, sure, but there are still some people out there that enjoy those movies and hope to see Rey, Finn, Poe, and the other new characters in potential new projects. And one of those people is Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm and the person who steers the “Star Wars” ship.

Based on the first novel in the “Chaos Walking” series, “The Knife of Never Letting Go,” by Patrick Ness, the film’s setting is the future, and a planet that humans have colonized because Earth’s environment is no longer sustainable.

I know this is hyperbole because Lionsgate just announced yet another delay but seems to have settled on a firm release date. But after literal years of delays, even adding two more months just feels like it’s never-ending. The newest delay, however, does come with a free clip of the film to tide you over, so at least there’s that!

They have their fair share of problems, especially when it comes to the way ‘Rise of Skywalker’ ended the Skywalker Saga last year. However, you’d be hard-pressed to blame Daisy Ridley for those issues, as her performance in the sequel trilogy is one of the high points of the new films. But even so, the actress thinks it’s highly unlikely she’ll ever return to the galaxy far, far away.
