After Warner Bros. permanently shelved its latest live-action “Looney Tunes” movie “Coyote vs. Acme” last November, many wondered if the situation was “Batgirl” redux. That is, the studio figured the movie made more sense for them as a write-off and a relic of a bygone Warner Bros. administration, never to reach audiences. Deadline reports that “Coyote vs. Acme” star Will Forte took to social media this morning to all but confirm those suspicions: the movie is as good as dead.

Last week, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav made news, yet again, regarding a controversial move to shelve an already-produced film. Following on the heels of previous features who earned the distinction of being canceled after production was complete, “Batgirl” and “Scoob! 2,” it appears “Coyote vs. Acme” is doomed to join their ranks. Well, at least for now.

Just over a year after scrapping “Batgirl,” Warner Bros. and David Zazlav have killed off another nearly completed feature that was meant to be an HBO Max release and vaulted it instead. According to a new report, Warner has decided to cancel “Coyote Vs. Acme,” a live-action animated hybrid “Looney Tunes” film, ala “Space Jam,” that would have starred John Cena.

“A Quiet Place” proved earlier this year that a film that was almost completely silent could work. Of course, that film had the added benefit of real-life actors and was expertly crafted. But hey, if John Krasinski can do it, then surely so can Wile E. Coyote. Right?

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has hired writers to begin work on a script for a Wile E.
