Keanu Reeves Discovers ‘The Whole Truth’ In New Trailer For Legal Thriller

Unless, it’s “John Wick 2,” I’m having trouble concentrating on whatever Keanu Reeves is doing next. In this case, it’s “The Whole Truth,” a legal thriller that has already opened in Japan and select overseas markets already. That’s not always a good sign, but talent around this movie is nonetheless compelling.

Directed by Courtney Hunt (“Frozen River“), penned by Rafael Jackson, and co-starring Renee Zellweger, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Jim Belushi, the film tells the story of a defense attorney hired by a wealthy family to acquit their son who has confessed to a brutal crime.

Courtney Hunt To Follow ‘Frozen River’ With A Remake Of French Film ‘Ressources Humaines’

“Frozen River” writer and director Courtney Hunt is set to follow her hugely indie-successful debut film with a remake of Laurent Cantet’s 1999 French film, “Ressources Humaines.”

Hunt is currently penning the remake, presumably titled “Human Resources,” which will center on a young man who returns to his home town — with the original’s French setting moved to contemporary America — to take up a management position at a local factory, only to be asked to make personnel changes which force him to examine what it means to be in management.

‘Frozen River’ Tops The Gotham Independent Film Awards

This year’s big Sundance winner, “Frozen River” keeps dominating in the indie awards. Last night the film was the bigger winner at the The Gotham Independent Film Awards (the nominees and initial announcement here).

The Courtney Hunt-directed indie won the Best Feature Award and lead actress Melissa Leo was singled out in the Breakthrough Actor category.

Despite having scored the most number of nominations, Lance Hammer’s “Ballast” only took the Breakthrough Director award.

Much-Hyped German Film, ‘Baader Meinhof Complex’ Fails To Ignite Box-Office In Native Deutschland

The much-hyped German film, “The Baader Meinhof Complex” failed to light up the box-office in its native home. The film which has been picked by Germany as its official Foreign Oscar representation failed to beat “Wall-E” which just opened in Deutschland. Produced by Bernd Eichinger, the film’s disappointing opening couldn’t even match the producers last films’ openings; arthouse pics like “Downfall,” and “Perfume — The Story of a Murderer.” ‘Baader Meinhof’ met controversy earlier this year when it threatened Germany reporters and journalists with a 100, 000 Euro fine if they wrote about the film before its September 25 German release.
