‘Joker,’ ‘Rocketman’ & ‘Game of Thrones’ Among 2020 CAS Sound Mixing Awards Nominees

The guild award nominations are rolling in and today The Cinema Audio Society revealed their nominees for the 2020 CAS Awards which honor Sound Mixing in a number of fields. The movie nominees were led by “Ford v. Ferrari,” “Joker,” “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” “Rocketman” and “The Irishman.” The one-hour television nominees featured “Game of Thrones,” “Jack Ryan,” “Stranger Things,” “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Peaky Blinders.”

It should be noted that “The Lion King’s” nomination in the Animated Film category is the second time this week Disney’s “non-animated” film has earned recognition in an animated category.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Sounds Stellar At 2019 CAS Awards

The Cinema Audio Society handed out its 2019 CAS Awards on Saturday night and provided some keen insight on how the Sound Mixing Oscar race might play out. “Bohemian Rhapsody” took the top prize over major competition from “A Star is Born” and “First Man.” Whether AMPAS members feel the same way about the Freddie Mercury and Queen biopic in this category remains to be seen.

Preordained: ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Cleans Up Again, At The Editing, Sound And Cinematography Guild Awards

So we’re in the home stretch as far as the awards season goes with the (newly revamped) Oscars now less than a week away, and now the final film guilds have handed out their trophies. First, let’s start with the big one, the Eddie Awards. If you’ll recall, the nominated films for this year’s ACE award were the exact same that are nominated for the Best Editing Academy Award, and they are “The Dark Knight,” “Benjamin Button,” “Frost/Nixon,” “Milk,” and “Slumdog Millionaire.” And the winner was…

“Slumdog Millionaire” – This basically ensures it the Oscar as if that wasn’t already understood.
