It’s been four years since “True Detective” aired on HBO, but the series returns for a fourth season, subtitled ‘Night Country’ on January 14, 2024. Creator Nic Pizzolatto couldn’t come to terms with HBO on the direction for a fourth season after season three and then parted ways with the cable channel. In his stead, filmmaker Barry Jenkins came on board as an executive producer, co-signing on an idea from acclaimed Mexican horror filmmaker Issa López.

For our buck, one of the most underrated actresses working today is Aussie Abbie Cornish. While she’s turned in some fabulous performances (“Somersault,” “Bright Star” and the extremely underseen “The Girl”), Cornish hasn’t quite caught on to the next level. But she is joining the already front-loaded cast of filmmaker Amma Asante’s “Where Hands Touch.”

Does “Wolverine” have competition as being one of the worst blockbuster tentpoles of the year and can a film possibly have worse special effects that then Gavin Hood-directed mutant film? All incredibly good questions and the trailer for ‘G.I. Joe,’ does raise this as viable possibility.
