Soundtrack Details & New Photos For Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’ Revealed

On the eve of its Venice premiere, the Italian distributors of Sofia Coppola’s forthcoming “Somewhere” starring Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning have unveiled a host of new photos as well as soundtrack details for the film.

Bookended by Phoenix’s previously revealed “Love Like A Sunset” and tracks by composer William Storkson (who also contributed to “Lost In Translation”), the highly eclectic mix spanning from the likes of The Police, Bryan Ferry and The Strokes to Gwen Stefani and Amerie is pretty, well, Coppola-esque.

The First Riotous Trailer For The ‘Jackass 3D’ Unfortunately In 2D

When Time Magazine called 3D “the future of movies,” we doubt this is what they had in mind.

But oddly, could it be a film that revives the dwindling format? The trailer for “Jackass 3D” has been unveiled — unfortunately in 2D — and exhibits all the crash, bang and debauchery we could ever wish for.

The film screened 8 minutes of footage at this year’s Comic-Con to rave reviews with the footage included in this trailer seemingly a watered down version of that.

While we’re not the biggest fans of 3D around these parts, we do have to say that using the format to watch the “Jackass” gang do horrible, horrible things to their various appendages and orifices is kind of inspired.

In advance of footage set to be unveiled at Comic-Con, the first still for “Jackass 3D” has arrived and rather appropriately, it’s Johnny Knoxville in mid-air on a SeaDoo that seems to have been launched from the back of truck full of water.

Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’ Trailer Debuts; Looks Like A ‘Lost In Translation’ Sequel

After the poster hit last week, it was only a matter of time until a trailer appeared for Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere” (despite the film’s December 22nd release date), and our first look at the film has just gone online at Apple (via In Contention).

The film, widely expected to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, seems to share a great deal of DNA with Coppola’s most successful film to date, “Lost In Translation” — with a plot involving a spoilt movie star based in a luxury hotel (in this case, the legendary Chateau Marmont in L.A.).

Michelle Monaghan Added To Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’; Film Elements Finished And Screening Soon

As for Sofia Coppola’s fourth feature-film, “Somewhere” — also apparently completed and screening at The American Film Market in Santa Monica — details have come in fits and starts, but we do know the film stars Stephen Dorff (no, you didn’t read that wrong) as a rough-and-tumble Hollywood star who is wasting away at the Chateau Marmont when his estranged, 11 year old daughter (Elle Fanning) drops in for a surprise visit.

The New Yorker article we just mentioned also reveals that Michelle Monaghan has a significant part in the film, which is something we didn’t realize.

Phoenix Frontman To Contribute Music To Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’

In news that’s probably shocking to no one really, Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars is apparently going to be contributing original music to Sofia Coppola’s next feature-film, the hotel-based, father-daughter relationship drama, “Somewhere.”

No shocker as he is Coppola’s life-partner and the father of their child Romy. The entire band has a cameo in Coppola’s previous effort, “Marie Antoinette,” as a lute-playing quartet that serenade Kirsten Dunst’s main character (you can see the scene here).

This month’s Interview Magazine with “Mad Men” star January Jones on the cover features an artist-on-artist interview with Owen Wilson taking on fellow actor Stephen Dorff as his subject.

In it, Dorff takes to discussing Sofia Coppola’s upcoming film “Somewhere,” which will center on a bad-boy actor (Dorff) who is wasting away in the celebrity-clad Chateau Marmont when his estranged 11 year-old daughter, played by Elle Fanning, shows up for an unexpected visit.
