The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is as ambiguous and rumor mill-worthy as its ever been; the DC brand in 2019 is limited to the upcoming “Joker” and a handful of reliable TV mainstays in “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and others; and the recent cancellation of “Jessica Jones” on Netflix hammered the final nail into the coffin of a relatively short-lived partnership with Marvel.

The dark underbelly of Upper East Side trust-fund children is exposed once again in “Twelve,” though with an added gimmick: we now see everything happening on an alien planet. Director Joel Schumacher hasn’t made a science fiction picture, but he doesn’t seem to know very much about the behavior, attitudes, prejudices and lifestyles of these young socialite wannabes. Nor does he appear to have much interest in their humanity. This is Schumacher’s twenty-second directorial effort, and he has yet to understand how to frame a human conversation or to direct actors to convey believable human emotion, so he’s finally decided to test his limited skills with an extremely low budget offering comprised entirely of such moments.

Wow, how desperate can you get?

Eric Parkinson, CEO of indie distributor Hannover House, hit Facebook today to plead with people to raise the IMDB ranking of Joel Schumacher’s forthcoming youth-and-drugs drama “Twelve.” The film has had non-existent if not outright negative buzz. Starring a fairly random cast, including Chace Crawford, Kiefer Sutherland, 50 Cent, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin and Ellen Barkin, the film is based on the book by Nick McDonnell and chronicles a bunch of rich white kids who experience the bad side of drugs.

Since Joel Schumacher’s “Twelve” is looking to be thoroughly terrible, Chace Crawford is hoping that joining the forthcoming indie drama “Peace, Love & Misunderstanding” will be the cred boost his career needs.

Also starring Catherine Keener and Jane Fonda, the film “centers on Diane, a conservative lawyer (Keener) who, after her husband leaves her, takes her son and daughter to the house of their estranged, hippie grandmother (Fonda) in Woodstock. What was meant to be a stress-free getaway quickly turns into a reminder of why Diane escaped her mother’s hippie lifestyle in the first place.

First up is the action extravaganza “The Expendables.” The film, a brainchild of Sylvester Stallone, stars or features every major action star of the last few decades, including Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts and Steve Austin. The film is about a group of mercenaries who are betrayed and blah blah blah.

EW reports that Chace Crawford (“Gossip Girl”) will not be taking the main role in Paramount’s remake of “Footloose.”

The studio suffered a similar blow when Zac Efron dropped out so as to not be typecast. Who knew that two teen stars would give up, of all things, a chance to be in “Footloose.” Unscathed, Paramount seems to be eyeing an unknown for the main role, probably to derail any future flakiness. As for Chase, the only thing that is confirmed to be on his plate is another season of “Gossip Girl” though he was a time in the running to suit up for “Captain America.”

Variety brings us word that Craig Brewer (“Hustle & Flow”) will be directing this remake.

Listen, we weren’t expecting anything approaching quality from Joel Schumacher’s upcoming “Twelve,” but even at his very worst the films from the hack director have always had somewhat coherent trailers. Until now.

We’re guessing that whoever distributors Hannover House hired to cut the trailer couldn’t make heads or tails of what they were working with as the excessively long, three minute spot tells us absolutely nothing about the film. The trailer starts off with a droning, monotonous voiceover by Keifer Sutherland and quickly goes downhill.

Attention every young, white male with a pretty face: Marvel Studios and Joe Johnston are looking for “Captain America.” And a good physique is not a requirement.

Earlier today, Deadline broke the wishlist of candidates on Marvel and Johnston’s list of potential dudes to suit up in the red, blue and white spandex for the lead role of “Captain America,” and we have to say, some of the choices are puzzling to say the least.

Tweens everywhere must be feeling RLY 🙁 right now in the wake of the news that legendary choreographer/questionable film director Kenny Ortega has stepped down as director of the remake of “Footloose” scheduled to start shooting in March. Or maybe they don’t care because Gossip Girl mini-hunk Chace Crawford and Dancing With the Stars hoofer Julianne Hough are still onboard the “Footloose” remake train.

Or Alternate headline titled: Dear God, Hollywood Please Stop Hiring The Piece Of Wood Named 50 Cent

Actually it’s not just him. Hollywood won’t stop hiring this thug and Joel Schumacher – who quickly squandered any goodwill he accrued from making “Tigerland” in 2000 after being raped alive by critics and fans for the ‘Batman 3 and 4’ movies – is the latest to do so having just attached 50 Cent to his next movie.
