And his comeback project, “Blood on Snow,” is headlined by two of the biggest stars working today.

According to Deadline, Cary Fukunaga is set to direct an adaptation of Jo Nesbo’s novel, “Blood on Snow.” Leading the cast of this film are none other than Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Tom Hardy.

He was at the center of sexual misconduct allegations from women in Hollywood. While no legal action was taken, it did mean that when “Masters of the Air” was released, the Apple TV+ war series he directed some episodes of, Fukunaga was not part of the marketing.

This has clearly been a passion project for Spielberg, as he has consistently tried to get this to happen, most recently with the help of director Cary Fukunaga. However, after Fukunaga was accused of sexual misconduct, there were questions about whether it was still in the works.

Various Actors, filmmakers, and studio heads have all been subject to accusations from people showcasing how the entertainment industry has been littered with harassment and misconduct that would have previously gone unreported. And now, we have another name to add to the list — Cary Fukunaga, the filmmaker behind the recent James Bond blockbuster, “No Time to Die.”

Rolling Stone released an article recently detailing accusations that display a pattern of crossing professional lines by Cary Fukunaga.

It’s hard to believe how much Daniel Craig’s James Bond tenure has popped up over my career as a journalist. I was barely in the game when I interviewed Martin Campbell for “Casino Royale.” I was beyond lucky enough to visit both “Quantum of Solace” sets in Bregenz, Austria, and at Chile’s Paranal Observatory in the Atacama Desert. Because, hey, it’s one thing to talk to Craig in a hotel suite for an interview, but it’s another to chit-chat after he’s done an action scene as 007.

With “No Time to Die” released all over the world and the days of Daniel Craig’s 007 done as a result, it’s time for producer Barbara Broccoli to begin her search for the next actor to take on the role. And while she’s willing to venture off the white male actor path to find her next star, Broccoli once again affirms that there won’t be a female Bond coming our way.

Well, according to the filmmaker, it was far from the most conventional filmmaking process, including crafting a script well after production actually ended.

Speaking to Esquire Middle East, Fukunaga talked about the unusual situation surrounding the scriptwriting process for “No Time to Die.” You see, due to taking over the film from Danny Boyle late in pre-production combined with the injury of Daniel Craig and the uncertainty about when he would return, the production of the film had to keep moving ahead with a collection of scenes that could be molded into what Fukunaga wanted.

Craig has had nothing but time: days, months, and now years added to his sentence as the man who orders his martini best shaken, not stirred. Since his 2006 debut in “Casino Royale,” Craig’s Bond, the actor himself now age 53, more than any other iteration of the character, grappled with loss, mortality, and heartbreak.

Obviously, the main reason is that, after a long delay, Daniel Craig’s last jaunt as 007, “No Time to Die,” is hitting theaters in a matter of weeks. With that, another era of Bond comes to an end. And director Cary Fukunaga thinks this era of James Bond showed the character go through a bit of a change, especially in relation to the treatment of females in the franchise, which was something that was desperately needed after earlier iterations including Sean Connery’s films as the superspy.

The acclaimed writer has been an integral part of all three seasons and has reportedly had some clashes with filmmakers over that time. Well, according to the filmmaker behind Season 1 of “True Detective,” Cary Fukunaga, his struggle with Pizzolatto comes down to what he felt was an unfair partnership.

Hopefully, there are, uh, no other times the film will move after this.

lukewarm reviews and an ongoing box office-challenging pandemic may still want
a word on that final verdict. But that said, if Nolan can’t do it, maybe filmmaker
Cary Joji Fukunaga can with the upcoming 007 film, “No Time
To Die.”

While summer movies took a lot of narrative hits this year from the various release date shuffles (see Nolan’s movie), MGM might have fared best by being one of the first major studios to seemingly recognize the dangers of the pandemic and act accordingly.

As he explained in a new interview with Empire, his reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and how it altered the plans for his new ‘Bond’ film is tempered by the fact that he’s already gone through this whole pandemic thing before more than a decade ago.

Historically, ‘Bond’ directors have been British, and Fukunaga is definitely not. Not only that, but his previous works didn’t really make it seem like he’d be the most obvious choice to usher in the 25th film in the spy franchise.

However, over the course of his career, one thing has been certain—he’s not a director that likes to repeat himself. From the Spanish-language film, “Sin Nombre,” that marked his directorial debut to the period film,” Jane Eyre,” to the crime drama series, “True Detective,” and many more, Fukunaga isn’t one that finds himself working on similar projects back-to-back.

Just look at the various Marvel Studios films for examples of this. Sometimes, there are up to 6 or more screenwriters on any given project. In the recent Daniel Craig era of the James Bond franchise, all of the films feature at least three credited writers, for example. But there has been a lot of discussion about the script for the upcoming “No Time to Die,” not just because there are now four credited writers (down from six when the film was announced), but also because one of them is Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
