The boys are back.

“Y Tu Mama Tambien” hermanos Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal have returned for another engrossing Spanish language dramedy directed by a guy with the last name of Cuaron. (This time it’s Carlos, Alfonso’s brother, who co-wrote “Y Tu Mama Tambien” and Alfonso’s first feature, the Criterion-approved screwball comedy, “Solo con tu pareja”) It’s the first movie produced by the “Three Amigos” – Alfonso Cuaron, Guillermo del Toro, and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (under their production company Cha Cha Cha Produciones).

We’ve already written quite a bit about “Rudo Y Cursi,” the upcoming feature-film debut from Carlos Cuarón, the younger brother of Alfonso Cuarón and co-writer of “Y Tu Mama Tambien” and “Solo Con Tu Pareja” (among many others). The Spanish-language comedy reunites ‘Tu Mama’ stars and best friends Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal as bumbling rival soccer playing brothers. We posted some bizarre viral clips of the film a few weeks ago (it was released in Mexico in December) and the soundtrack details back when it had its US premiere at Sundance.

Sundance Flick: ‘Rudo Y Cursi’ Soundtrack Features Devendra Banhart, Juana Molina, Nortec Collective

The Sundance comedy, “Rudo Y Cursi,” starring “Y Tu Mama Tambien” pals Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal about dimwitted brothers recruited by rival soccer teams hasn’t even premiered at the film festival yet, but it already has a soundtrack. How? It already opened in its native Mexico in December where it’s been doing extremely well (the two are huge stars there; the soundtrack was released in mehico in late November).

As we noted yesterday in our Sundance ’09 Music Preview piece, the movie and soundtrack features tracks by Juana Molina, Black Lips, Devendra Banhart, Nortec Collective and Mexican artists like Juan Son, Nia Dioz and Adanowsky.

Sundance 2009, which runs January 15 – 25, is just around the corner and things are starting to already heat up with lots of PR outlets trying to generate buzz by giving different publications exclusives.

– First off Sony Pictures Classics has already sealed-the-deal and acquired, the pre-Sundance screening of the reteaming of “Y Tu Mama Tambien” homeboys, Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal for the Spanish-language comedy “Rudo y Cursi,” directed by Carlos Cuaron (Alfonso Cuaron’s younger brother and the writer of ‘Tambien’ and Cuaron’s earlier screwball-ish comedy, “Sólo con tu pareja”; it’s great, btw).
