But that shouldn&#8217;t take away from the fact diverse voices took much of the spotlight this year. The festival had more Asian films in competition than in many years, <strong>Spike Lee&#8217;s &#8220;BlacKkKlansman&#8221;</strong> was a rare African-American centered tale up for the Palme d&#8217;Or and, oh yeah, it was probably the <em>gayest</em> Cannes ever.</p>

Minding her own business in Panama City, FL during Spring Break 2015, the Texas college student was approached by director <strong>Andrea Arnold</strong> about starring in her upcoming film, “<strong>American Honey</strong>.” Only a few weeks later the 19-year-old would find herself acting opposite well known stars such as <strong>Shia Labeouf</strong> and <strong>Riley Keogh</strong>.</p>
