When Bryan Lee O’Malley created Scott Pilgrim in the early ‘00s, it was picked up by an
independent book publisher and released in six black and white volumes. Twenty years later,
Scott Pilgrim has been adapted into multiple formats including a live-action movie, a video
game, and reprinted countless times. It’s a surprisingly tenacious property, now expanding its
story to a new medium, Japanese Anime. “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” is a natural evolution of the
graphic novel, as O’Malley was influenced by Japanese Anime when he started penning the
pages of Scott Pilgrim all those years ago.

While it didn’t break even at the box office, “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” remains one of Edgar Wright‘s most celebrated films thirteen years after its release. So, good news for fans of Wright’s films or the original graphic novel series.  Netflix has a new “Scott Pilgrim” anime series on the way, and it’s bringing back the entire cast of Wright’s live-action film to do voice work for the show.

We’ve seen a lot of actors cross over into the world of directing and the latest name to make the jump is Blake Lively (“The Town“). She’s landed a high-profile genre project that will see her collaborate with an unlikely screenwriter.

Lively is making her feature film directing debut with “Seconds” according to The Hollywood Reporter and is teaming with Edgar Wright (“Shaun of The Dead“) who will write on the new project at Searchlight Pictures.
