Based on a film of the same name, the “Friday Night Lights” spinoff series has become a modern classic for many viewers. Now, the producers of the show are hoping the popularity on streaming means that there’s a hunger for more teen football angst.

According to a new report from Puck, “Friday Night Lights” filmmaker Peter Berg and producers Jason Katims and Brian Grazer are shopping around a reboot of the hit NBC series.

Showtime has just released a trailer for their upcoming documentary series ‘Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine‘ that will focus on the controversial rapper.

The three-part documentary follows on the heels of Hulu‘s similar and recent documentary, “69: The Saga Of Danny Hernandez.” This version, a docu-series premiering on February 10, profiles hip-hop artist Tekashi 6ix9ine’s epic rise to notoriety and spectacular fall to a convicted criminal.

Hulu Orders 10 Episodes Of Scripted Musical Drama Series ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’

If telling the story of five young Black men forming a legendary rap group was a huge success in the 2015 film, “Straight Outta Compton,” then surely doubling the number of men, and adding additional hours of content means even more success, right? That’s what Hulu is hoping for as they announced a new 10-episode series, “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” via THR.

As the name implies, ‘Wu-Tang’ will focus on the titular rap group and tells the story of the group’s formation and rise to superstardom, thanks to the genius of Bobby Digs, aka RZA.

While the vampire phenomenon doesn’t show any signs of going away, publishing and studio executives alike are hot on the tails of anything, something, that might mimic the success of the “Twilight” phenomenon. We’ve got teen angels, aliens and weird veiny bald dudes all on the way, but there seems to be a bit of a mini-trend developing: fairy tale characters.

Adam McKay is developing horror-comedy “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters,” Bryan Singer gets underway on “Jack the Giant Killer” next year, and original “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke is currently shooting “The Girl With The Red Riding Hood,” and now two more potential projects look to be joining them.

Taylor Lautner Chooses Habro Over Mattel, Will Make ‘Stretch Armstrong’ Instead Of ‘Max Steel’

Taylor Lautner, who is like the Justin Beiber of young Hollywood actors these days, seems to be commanding a frankly baffling amount of attention lately. The latest news surrounding Lautner is that he’s dropped out of the “Max Steel,” to tackle “Stretch Armstrong.” Why? Apparently, Habro has their shit together and Mattel doesn’t.

Lautner was signed to “Max Steel” first but only after Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner watched SNL hosted by Lautner, where in the opening monologue he did backflips, cracked some jokes and was generally very pleasant, did he get on the phone and get a contract in place for “Stretch Armstrong.” Universal, Hasbro and Lautner’s agency WME moved quickly, getting Brian Grazer on board, making a decision to shoot the the film in 3D and securing a 2012 release date.

Steven Knight to Write Dan Brown’s ‘The Lost Symbol’, Ron Howard Off The Project

Dan Brown’s “The Lost Symbol” is the fastest selling adult novel of all time (so long as you define ‘adult’ as ‘for idiots’), so it’s not surprise that Sony Pictures are keen to move it towards the big screen, particularly as its predecessors in the Robert Langdon series, “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons,” have made somewhere around $1.2 billion worldwide, despite being mind-bogglingly mediocre.

The studio have appointed Steven Knight, the writer of Stephen Frears’ excellent “Dirty Pretty Things,” and David Cronenberg’s “Eastern Promises,” to adapt the book – a step up at least, considering the awful Akiva Goldsman was behind the first two films (in fact, he was paid a near record $4 million for “Angels & Demons,” only for it to be significantly rewritten by David Koepp).

Wes Anderson Has No Plans To Direct ‘The Rosenthaler Suite’

Earlier this year, it was reported that Wes Anderson was hard at work penning an adaptation of the French film “My Best Friend.” The film, about an obnoxious man who is forced to find a best friend, in order to win a bet with his business partner is a cutesy enough comedy, but it didn’t particularly seem to be up Anderson’s alley.

We reviewed Anderson’s draft that was turned in at the end of last summer, and while it was more or less faithful to the original, it did open up the characters and plot into something that could conceivably fit Anderson’s now trademark sensibilities and regular cast of players.

“Scott Pilgrim” producer Eric Gitter and Imagine’s Brian Grazer have acquired the rights to “Frenemy of the State,” an Oni Press comic book created by “Parks & Recreation” star, and light of our lives, Rashida Jones. The series focuses on a wealthy heiress in her early 20s who starts to work for the CIA – Jones tells Variety “She has lived a life of privilege, attended the best schools and learned every language, but her obsession with spying on exes gets her in trouble and she is recruited to be a spy in exchange for not going to prison.

Mia Wasikowska Joins Gus Van Sant’s Emo Love Story, ‘Restless’

Gus Van Sant’s new project “Restless,” is coming along nicely. Australian star-in-the-making Mia Wasikowska (the lead of Tim Burton’s upcoming “Alice In Wonderland”) is in final negotiations to take the lead role in what is being called a dark coming-of-age drama by THR.

Last time it was described as a “contemporary and distinctive take on young love,” so the details seem to be a bit clearer. Though Movieline have the script and they’ve called the film, “the most emo love story to ever don black lipstick and listen to The Smiths.”

Protagonist Enoch Brae is a 17-year-old funeral crasher, drawn to attending strangers’ memorials after losing both his parents.

Gus Van Sant Set To Take On The Bryce Dallas Howard-Produced ‘Restless’

Did the “Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” project slow down? Or is the script just not ready? And is this one for the studio in between or one for yourself?

Gus Van Sant is in negotiations to produce and direct first-timer Jason Lew’s screenplay “Restless.”

Described as a “contemporary and distinctive take on young love,” the film also has Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Bryce Dallas Howard on board as producers.

The project first came together when Dallas Howard brought college friend Lew’s story to her father who then worked with the scribe and Imagine to develop the script from the original play.
