Meaning instead of setting up expensive green screens, blue screens, and mo-cap suits to capture the spots where VFX would typically be inserted, Edwards and his team just shot the movie generally as one would in the wild and then basically Photoshopped on all the VFX afterward (that’s not the most technical version, but probably the most accurate the audiences will understand; read our ‘Creator’ review here).

Unless you’re someone that lives in the Netherlands and goes to the business owner’s cinema, you probably have no reason to ever know who Carlo Lambregts is. But if you’re a fan of James Bond, you’re going to be incredibly interested in what he has to say, as it appears the cinema owner claims to have some insider information about the release date for “No Time to Die.”

“No Time to Die” has been the subject of release drama since last April, when the film was originally delayed until November 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But alas, that’s exactly what happened, which raised more than a few eyebrows among film fans. Now, months later, with a new director (and writers) aboard the spy film, Boyle finally speaks out about the reasons for leaving the coveted job.

Universal Pictures has dated the upcoming Untitled Danny Boyle/Richard Curtis Musical and Comedy and it’s coming Friday, September 13, 2019, in wide release. And that release date is almost a sure bet the picture will debut a few days earlier at the Toronto International Film Festival; the organizers tend to program big, mainstream crowdpleasers that arrive a few days earlier than the festival begins to create greater buzz.

Wilson are basically interested only in making theatrically-released films about the iconic British spy. But Apple and Amazon stand poised to test the character’s potential on streaming and broadcast formats after joining the bidding war for rights to the series after Sony’s deal to produce 007 adventures expired in 2015 with “Spectre.”

According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the tech giants are courting longtime rights holder MGM for the rights to Bond, in an effort to anchor their respective ventures into content creation in one of the most enduring and beloved franchises in cinema history.

It’s really all the studios want to make, whether it’s an adaptation of a well-known video game, a remake, a comic book property, a popular, best-selling book or some form of branded entertainment. I.P. drives Hollywood and informs nearly all of its decisions. But as 2016 has shown, I.P. isn’t performing well, at least in the U.S. See: “Warcraft,”“Independence Day: Resurgence,” “Alice In Wonderland: Through The Looking Glass,” “Snow White And The Huntsman,” “X-Men: Apocalypse” and most likely this weekend, “Tarzan.”

Christopher Nolan recently spoke about his love for James Bond films and in particular, 1969’s “On Her Majesties Secret Service,” a type of one-off Bond that starred George Lazenby, in a hiatus period for Sean Connery who went back to the series after Lazenby didn’t really connect with audiences (it still did great, just not as well as its predecessor, “You Only Live Twice” — Connery would return for 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever”).

Of course everyone seems to have missed this and are all a flutter about the fact that Nolan has said “Inception” is influenced by Bond (which he already said).

…and so it begins.

Hired back in May by the beleaguered studio, investment bankers Moelis & Company have started sending non-disclosure agreements to possible bidders. Upon signing their name on the dotted line, interested parties will get a look at MGM’s books via a “virtual room” that will be set up by the banking firm online.

So what’s at stake? A hell of a lot. While bits and pieces of MGM have been sold off over the years (the most notable is Time Warner’s purchase of the pre-1985 catalog via their acquisition of Turner Broadcasting in 1996) they still have a lot of valuable properties in their stable.

So last week, Nikki Finke reported that MGM studios was in trouble and basically made a plea to its shareholders for more cash. Apparently they were in knee-deep debt for $3.7 billion. They can’t even keep up in the interest payments, ouch.

MGM made a desperate plea for money because the studio had missed its numbers and was going to be out of funds very soon. “The implication was that it’s teetering on bankruptcy,” one source told me.

You’ve probably heard by now at one point in the aughts (circa 2004/2005) Quentin Tarantino was toying with the idea of directing a James Bond film and the 007/Ian Flemming story he wanted to tell was, “Casino Royale.” As he puts it, on a recent appearance on the Jonathan Ross BBC show to promote, “Inglourious Basterds,” the notoriously hands-on producers of that franchise thought the original novel was “unfilmable” and didn’t want to make it (even though a satirical version was made in 1967 with Peter Sellers, David Niven and Woody Allen).
