Well, it seems as if the legendary actor is ready to keep that TV trend going with yet another new show. This time, he’s set to star in the Paramount+ series, “Bobby Meritorious.”

According to Deadline, Robert De Niro is set to star in the upcoming Paramount+ crime drama series, “Bobby Meritorious.” The series hails from writer-creator Billy Ray and will have De Niro play informant Avery “The Sage” Accomando, who can singlehandedly bring down the U.S.

Screenwriter Billy Ray has confirmed that a sequel to Nicole Kidman‘s viral AMC Theatres ad is already in the works.

“I got a text from the chairman of AMC about a month ago asking me if I would write the next one, and of course the answer to that is yes,” Ray told Vanity Fair. “It’s already written.”

The Oscar-nominated screenwriter, known for penning films like “The Hunger Games,” “Richard Jewell,” “Flightplan” and “Captain Phillips,” was brought to the AMC project by Kidman, with whom he’d previously worked on the 2015 film “Secret in Their Eyes” and Adrian Lyne‘s forthcoming adaptation of author A.S.A Harrison‘s “The Silent Wife.”

Ray added that when Kidman first asked him to write the ad, he decided to do it “as a favor” — that is, until his agent got involved.

No stranger to political works, writer/director Billy Ray was behind the recent Showtime series “The Comey Rule,” focusing on former FBI director James Comey and President Trump’s attempt to coax the FBI to drop an investigation into his campaign’s and his own personal dealings with Russia. Now, in an announcement that isn’t all that surprising given their outspoken politics on the matter, filmmaker Adam McKay (“Vice,” “Don’t Look Up“) and Ray are looking to unite to focus on the Trump administration by moving forward with a feature film focusing on the U.S.

Though the original film is 70 years old, Akira Kurosawa’s “Rashomon” remains one of the most influential films ever to be released. To this day, you still hear descriptions of new films and TV projects as “Rashomon”-esque, as the style used to tell the mystery at the heart of the film has inspired so many copycats. Well, decades after the film (and two years after it was announced as a possible project), apparently HBO Max is ready to bring back “Rashomon” as a new TV series, though it’s going to look very different than the Kurosawa original.

While the filmmakers behind Showtime’s two-part “The Comey Rule” have clearly overestimated the public’s desire for— uhhh, gestures in the general direction of anything and everything in entertainment vaguely resembling the Trump Shitshow, any ancillary offshoots (see the Fox News portrait “The Loudest Voice”) and generally, politics in the corrosive age of toxic politics— writer/director Bill Ray’s “The Comey Rule” does open up with a good, if simplistic, bit and intriguing question.

As Terry Gilliam‘s long developing “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” hit yet another delay recently, it looks like he’ll shortly have some major league competition in telling the story of the man of La Mancha. But the director doesn’t have to worry about anybody stepping on his toes.

Disney is now developing their own “Don Quixote” movie that will apparently be in the spirit of their “Pirates Of The Caribbean” franchise, essentially meaning, more swashbuckling adventure.
