Though he’s 45 now, British DJ/producer musician Mark Ronson was seemingly a super-producer almost out of the gate, nearly 20 years ago when he first came to acclaim with his Here Comes the Fuzz debut album.

In May of 2012, musician, artist, rapper, filmmaker, and political activist Adam Yauch (MCA) passed away after a battle with cancer. His influential group, the seminal hip -hop trio, The Beastie Boys, essentially died on the same day too. Though the group may be over, their legacy lives on and their remaining members, Michael Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) have carried on to at least memorializing their band and their de facto leader Yauch.

This new musical trajectory, playing their own instruments, making their own samples, working with great artistic collaborators would mark their career to the very end in 2012 when founding member Adam Yauch passed away from cancer.

As we reported awhile back, Oscilloscope Laboratories has picked up “Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait Of Maurice Sendak,” the Jonze and Lance Bangs’ documentary that aired on HBO last fall. They will be releasing the forty-minute doc on DVD March 2nd, the same day as the DVD/BluRay release of “Where The Wild Things Are.” “Tell Them Anything”, which we called bracingly “honest and melancholy” in our review, while acting as a tribute to the author and featuring the likes of James Gandolfini, Meryl Streep, Catherine Keener and Tony Kushner, is also a frank and almost brutally naked portrait of Sendak, told by the man himself.
