Two films we’re highly anticipated have just been given release dates, plus many others now have official theater plans as well.

First off is David Koepp’s New York-based bike-messenger thriller for Sony , “Premium Rush” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, Dania Ramirez, Jamie Chung and Aasif Mandvi has been slotted for January 13, 2012. Gordon-Levitt recently injured himself on the set of the movie, crashing into a Taxi, but he didn’t look worse for wear afterwards.

Call it the: “we missed it, so did you” post? Or maybe not, regardless. Last week in the Friday issue of Entertainment Weekly, the magazine gave us our first look at Jake Kasdan’s “Bad Teacher,” a comedy centered around a foul-mouthed, junior high teacher (Cameron Diaz) who, after being dumped by her sugar daddy, begins to woo a colleague (Justin Timberlake) — a move that pits her against a well-loved teacher (Lucy Punch), and everyone — or at least us, certainly seemed to miss it.

Justin Timberlake & Molly Shannon Join Cast Of ‘Bad Teacher’

Former Cameron Diaz boytoy, Justin Timberlake and SNL alum Molly Shannon are set to join the comedy, “Bad Teacher.”

They join an already stellar cast that includes Jason Segel, Lucy Punch and John Michael Higgins in a film about a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher (Diaz) who sets her sights on a colleague (Punch), who is dating the school’s model teacher. Segel plays a gym teacher, and Higgins plays the principal.

In the latest round of casting, Timberlake “will play a substitute who stands to one day inherit his family’s watch fortune,” which the roles by Shannon, and “Modern Family” actor Eric Stonestreet, who’s also joined the cast, remain unknown.

Jason Segel and John Michael Higgins have joined the cast of Jake Kasdan’s “Bad Teacher.”

The film stars Cameron Diaz as a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher who sets her sights on a colleague, Lucy Punch, who is dating the school’s model teacher.

Segel will play a gym teacher at the school while Higgins will portray the principal in the script by “The Office” alum and upcoming “Ghostbusters 3” scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.

Lucy Punch Is Good Foil To Cameron Diaz’s ‘Bad Teacher’

Lucy Punch has been cast as Cameron Diaz’s female co-star in Jake Kasdan’s upcoming comedy “Bad Teacher,” THR reports.

The British star is set to appear as Amy Squirrel, the “good” foil to Diaz’ raunchy role as a seventh-grade teacher. This marks Punch’s first lead role in a big time American production (barring Woody Allen’s European-produced “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger,” due later in the year) after a string of smaller turns in both markets.

Cameron Diaz Is A ‘Bad Teacher’

Cameron Diaz will play the title character in “Bad Teacher,” a comedy set up at Columbia from “The Office” writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. Diaz will play Elizabeth, a gold-digging school teacher trying to land the new substitute teacher at her school.

The script’s enjoyably mean-spirited (if more than a little indebted to “Bad Santa”) and a huge improvement on the writing pair’s previous film, “Year One,” and we’re glad that Jake Kasdan is at the helm, even if he’s never topped his storming debut, “Zero Effect.” We’d have loved to see Elizabeth Banks in the lead, but Diaz is a solid choice.

Talk about from “The Office” to the penthouse- which we weren’t, of course, oh no. Screenwriters Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg have become new entrants in Hollywood’s funnyman screenwriter cattle call. After serving as Emmy-winning writers on the staff for “The Office,” they had their prehistoric comedy “Year One” picked up, and now are the names tasked with scribing the impossible, a big-budget “Ghostbusters 3” currently in pre-production.

But they aren’t sitting by idly while their cred flames out after a sure-to-be misfire like “GB3.” Instead, their original script (remember when we didn’t need to emphasize a script was original?
