Secondly, apparently the “August Rush” family drama about an orphaned musical prodigy movie and soundtrack (details and tracklist here) apparently charmed the pants off people and evidently some of our readers that can’t stop posting about it. Every once in a while we’ll actually care what you have to say. But we can’t necessarily endorse what looks like a sappy, saccharine, feel-good musical, but to each his own, we suppose.

You won’t find Sufjan on it (so Stereogum won’t report it) and you won’t find Deerhunter on it (so neither will Pitchfork), but the disc does feature songs by Kaki King, who recently contributed some instrumental score music (with Michael Brooks) to Sean Penn’s “Into The Wild,” John Legend, and lots of songs sung by closeted actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers (you can hear one his songs at the movie’s myspace page).
