Fox Searchlight are going to be a force to reckon with this Oscar season. Already announcing earlier today that Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” will hit theaters on December 1st, the studio has announced that Danny Boyle’s ambitious and highly anticipated based-on-true-story mountain climbing tale “127 Hours” has been slotted for a November 5th release.

Following the Oscar domination by “Slumdog Millionaire,” Boyle’s followup is a no-brainer as a strong horse in the awards season race.

Filming kicks off any day now on Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours” —the follow-up to his Oscar winning smash “Slumdog Millionaire” — and the new print issue of the ever-excellent Empire Magazine (it’s not online though) has a lengthy interview with the director, who reveals plenty of new details on the project. The project stars James Franco as Aron Ralston, a American mountain climber whose arm became trapped under a boulder while in Blue John Canyon in Utah.

Apparently this is the second poster for Lars Von Trier’s psychological horror-in-the-woods film, “Antichrist,” but the first one doesn’t look much different from the first bare-ass photo unveiled a few weeks ago.

This one is a bit heavier on the sure-to-be weird erotic and sexual nature of the film (Erotica horror sans the typical schlock whenever regular horror tries to inject sex into the picture? Sounds like an interesting take). Academy Award-winning cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle (“Slumdog Millionaire”) has shot the film and what we’ve seen so far looks appropriately creepy.

Probably our favorite technical category in film, the American Society of Cinematographers have announced their list of nominees for the films of 2008. Normally we do some kind of preview piece to predict who we think will be on the list and who we think should be on the list. There’s no major surprises to us, though we wouldn’t have bet on ‘Slumdog.’ We already shouted out the great Roger Deakins’ work in both “The Reader” and “Revolutionary Road” (last year he was nominated for two cinematography awards in the same lensing category, but lost out to Robert Elswit for “There Will Be Blood”) and the rest seem pretty obvious.
