Well, it’s official: “Industry” star Marisa Abela plays Amy Winehouse in Sam Taylor-Johnson‘s upcoming biopic “Back To Black.” The long-gestating project finally enters production on January 16 in London. The film traces Winehouse’s rise to fame in London in the early ’00s, when she and Taylor-Johnson first met and became friends in Camden’s High Street scene.

According to Deadline, filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson has signed on to direct “Back to Black,” an adaptation of the life and career of Amy Winehouse.

Variety confirmed shortly thereafter the reports that Nicole Kidman was attached to star while also announcing that Universal was developing their own Springfield biopic with Kristin Chenoweth attached to star).

Now the British rags are getting into the business updating this more-than-year-old story. Take it with a grain of salt possibly, but the Daily Express says that on top of Kidman, producing team Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen of London-based Number 9 Films are considering Keira Knightley, and even troubled singer Amy Winehouse for the part.

According to her right-hand man producer Mark Ronson, Winehouse has stopped working on the track and evidently in no shape to continue working on the track.
