Inspired casting or a grave mistake? Deadline reports that Phoebe Waller-Bridge may have found her Lara Croft for her “Tomb Raider” series over at Prime Video. And who’s in talks to star as the video game heroine? None other than Lady Sansa herself, Sophie Turner.

Did the “Summer of Tom Holland” just got more jam-packed? Deadline reports that Amazon MGM Studios won the bidding war for “American Speed,” a race car drama with Holland and Austin Butler attached to star. “American Speed” marks the third upcoming blockbuster starring Holland. The other two, Christopher Nolan‘s next project at Universal and Marvel‘s “Spider-Man 4” hit theaters in July 2026.

Fresh off its world premiere at Telluride yesterday, here’s the first trailer for RaMell Ross‘ “Nickel Boys.” And given the film’s reception at the Colorado-based festival, expect Ross’ film to get some major attention during the upcoming awards season (and not just because Ross’ 2018 doc “Hale County This Morning, This Evening” was also a critical darling).

After five years in development, “Silk: Spider Society” is no more.  Variety reports that Amazon has scrapped plans for the live-action series entirely after the show already received a massive writers’ room overhaul in February. It’s a fate Spidey-fans shouldn’t be surprised by. When Amazon gave “Noir” with Nic Cage the green light last week, they provided no updates on “Silk: Spider Society,” leading many to assume the worst.

Mattel’s live-action “Master of the Universe” film, based on the He-Man toy, has been in development hell for years, changing studios three times in five years. Sony had distribution rights for years (even had a March 5, 2021 film on the calendar at one point), with Noah Centineo in the lead. Then it was Netflix with Kyle Allen (Spielberg’s “West Side Story”) in the lead role, and that went nowhere.

Once (or even twice) apparently isn’t enough when it comes to Stieg Larsson‘s “Millennium” trilogy. Variety reports that Amazon MGM Studios has a new series adaptation of Larsson’s nordic noir book series in the works; moviegoers may better know them for “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” which David Fincher did his own take of back in 2011 as part of his lean, mean, airport paperback adaptation phase that also included 2014’s “Gone Girl.”
