Review: ‘Hatchet II’ is Like Getting A Toothbrush In Your Trick-or-Treat Bag

How quickly can you realize that you hate a movie? For “Hatchet II,” that moment will probably be delivered in the title sequence, in which a video camera hurriedly ping-pongs around a Louisiana swamp, pausing every few seconds to get a look at the remains of the characters from the first film, 2006’s “Hatchet.” Since most of those actors didn’t return for the sequel (an outstanding decision on their behalf), we’re treated to lumps of Halloween-decoration gore decorated with some distinctive marks (mostly pieces of look-alike wardrobe).

‘Creature From The Black Lagoon’ Has A New Director; ‘Frozen’ Poster Is Sort Of Cool

— The long-gestating “Creature From The Black Lagoon” remake, which has had Guillermo Del Toro and Breck Eisner (“The Crazies”) attached in the past, seems to have a new director in the shape of Carl Rinsch, the commercials director and Ridley Scott protege, who was briefly on board to direct “Alien 5.” There was a script by Gary Ross (“Pleasantville”), the son of Arthur Ross, the co-writer of the original, but Universal appear to be starting from scratch.

The Moldy Peaches Pay Off Massive Credit Card Debt With Tweaked Juno Song For Atlantis Resorts

I mean, that must be why, right? Not that the Moldy Peaches were the most punk-rock band in the world, but they were relatively subversive with their inappropriate and amusing bathroom humor and songs about crack and whatnot, right?

They appeared on “The View,” and then mocked it with typical too-cool-for-school irreverance, played off every commercial post-“Juno” experience as a chore, but how are they supposed to explain this ad for Atlantis Resorts that uses the pregnant-teen comedy track, “Everyone But You,” with grossly tweaked lyrics to reflect the sunny, fun time you’re going to have laying out in the sun and drinking margs until your lobster red?

Apparently during the Barbara Walters Academy Awards special right before the Oscars last Sunday, Babba Wabba told guest Ellen Page that she didn’t “get” the Moldy Peaches. Well, Peaches’ Adam Green responded to Walters calling her a smelly old claptrap (sort of). “I don’t think anyone’s taking Barbara’s opinion too seriously,” he said adding that the fact that Walters sang along with Page is evidence that every senile Grandmother on Planet Earth loves the band. “You couldn’t surprise me now,” “If Michael Jordan turned out to be the biggest Moldy Peaches fan, I’d be, like, ‘Join the f—ing club.’” [EW]

Santa Barbara Middle School Teen Press insult the shit out of “Juno” director Jason Reitman, and his “directorial skills,” daring to ask how he has the time to direct a film and then call his father – noted ’80s comedy director Ivan Reitman – and ask where to place the camera. Man, comedy cold. Kids say the darndest things.

According to Spoutblog, many are suggesting the clip was actually made by Reitman himself (“the fact that he posted the video on both his Myspace and YouTube pages only makes it clear that he’s probably responsible for the thing showing up on the net at all”).
