Indie filmmaker Hannah Fidell is circling back to her roots. While she has made relationship dramas like “6 Years,” the Netflix comedy, “The Long Dumb Road,” and directed plenty of TV (“Casual,” “The Act,” “Sorry For Your Loss“), her latest project is the most ambitious of her career.  It’s a remake and reimagining of her own work, her 2013 directorial debut “A Teacher,” about a female teacher who has an affair with one of her students and the implosion of those events.

The series tackles the issues of sexual abuse against a student by a teacher and not only shows the nitty, gritty of the actual sexual encounters but also the ramifications of the abuse. And due to the sensitive nature of the series, FX has gone ahead and released a PSA to go along with the new trailer for the show.

The romance between Claire and Eric is seemingly beautiful. Sure, she might be a bit older than he is, but in the trailer for “A Teacher,” the beginning moments show that both are madly in love with each other and are incredibly happy. There’s just the problem that Claire is a high school teacher and Eric is her, uh, student. And therein lies the awfulness of the relationship and why “A Teacher” is going to be a must-see series when it debuts in November.
