The second-straight “host-less” Oscars is counting on presenter star power to boost ratings and the first participants who are not nominees were announced today. The lineup includes Zazie Beetz, Timothée Chalamet, Will Ferrell, Gal Gadot, Mindy Kaling, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anthony Ramos, Mark Ruffalo, Kelly Marie Tran and Kristen Wiig.

In a statement from The Academy, show producers Howell Taylor and Stephanie Allain noted, “We’re excited to welcome these talented artists to help celebrate this year’s movies.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards bright and early Monday with the Oscars telecast less than a month away.  As always, some lucky nominees saw their dreams fulfilled while even more will have to wait for another day.

Todd Phillips and “Joker” led the pack with 11 nominations, beating the record for the most nominations ever for a comic-book movie, adding to its previous record of being the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, now a follow up is all but guaranteed.

In the first major move of recently elected AMPAS president David Rubin, the Academy announced today that there will be two new producers of Hollywood’s biggest night, the Oscars. Lynette Howell Taylor and Stephanie Allain have agreed to produce the telecast, replacing last year’s duo, Donna Gigliotti and Glenn Weiss. One would expect that Weiss, who has directed four Oscars and won a Primetime Emmy for his work helming the 90th Oscars in 2018, might return in that capacity.

The Academy of Motion Pictures and ABC haven’t confirmed it, but Kevin Hart has announced he’ll be hosting the 91st Academy Awards.  Hart becomes the third African-American to host the show solo after Whoopi Goldberg and Chris Rock.  Diana Ross, Richard Pryor and Sammy Davis, Jr. were part of multi-host telecasts in the 1970s.

In an Instagram post, Hart said, “that this would be an opportunity of a lifetime and that it will happen when it’s supposed to.”  He added, “I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time” and “my mom is smiling ear to ear now.”
