When Quibi launched earlier this year, the platform was hoping that a mixture of new technology and A-list talent would drive interesting in its mobile-first streaming service. Unfortunately, that didn’t totally pan out, and the company is struggling to remain in business, reportedly. However, that doesn’t mean the earlier Quibi shows didn’t have some standouts or at least series that struck a chord with some viewers, such as “50 States of Fright.”

Halloween is about a month away. And though the rules of trick-or-treating may have been affected by the COVID pandemic that doesn’t mean streaming services aren’t teeing up their forthcoming horror offerings. Yes, that includes Quibi, who is simultaneously looking for a buyer and also celebrating what we think is the service’s best series yet. Now, Quibi is hyping up its horror series, including more of Sam Raimi’s “50 States of Fright” anthology and a new series from “American Psycho” director, Mary Harron.

Quibi is an interesting streaming service for a number of reasons. The short episode lengths (dubbed “quick bites”) make mobile streaming much more appealing. And length and format make series like “50 States of Fright” something that can actually exist.
