TV takes on familiar IP isn’t new these days, although the quality of those series runs the gamut.  For every show like Prime Video‘s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Dead Ringers,” there are others, like Paramount+‘s “Sexy Beast,” that are utterly forgettable. In short, IP-turned-TV varies in quality, but that’s not stopping Warner Bros. from remaking one of Zack Snyder‘s biggest films into series form.

Loosely promoting his two “Rebel Moon” Netflix movies, one was released last December and a sequel that’s arriving in April, Zack Snyder recently appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast for a sprawling two-hour conversation. Snyder discussed almost every facet of his career, his DC films, and more, but during the conversation, he also revealed that he’s been discussing the idea of a “300” series, presumably with Netflix, as they are essentially his new home.

While, on paper and over the course of their filmography, you can’t really say that there’s much in common between Quentin Tarantino and Zack Snyder. They seem to be on very different ends of the filmmaking spectrum. But both men are founts of film ideas, always talking in interviews about their various pitches for features that probably won’t get made. And in the case of Snyder, one of the more intriguing ideas he’s had appears to be in the similar vein as Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler.”

Speaking to The Telegraph, Snyder talked about his idea for a new spin on the idea of “The Wrestler,” but instead of focusing on a professional wrestler no longer in his prime (gloriously played by Mickey Rourke in Aronofsky’s film), the “Army of the Dead” director has an idea that genderswaps the lead and tells a new kind of story involving the world of pushing your body to the max.

“Nothing But The Truth,” The Rod Lurie-directed Valerie Plame-like justice drama starring Kate Beckinsale and Vera Farmiga now has a release date of December 19. We saw the film at the Toronto Film Festival and we liked it, but we didn’t love it. Still, Beckinsale does have a strong shot at an Oscar nod as the classic-drama mode of this film will appeal to Oscar voters.

Peter Berg, the actor turned director, has signed on for a modern and apparently “fresh,” new take on the story of Greek mythology strongman, “Hercules: The Thracian Wars.” It basically sounds like another “300” clone with shades of “Troy” thrown in for good measure, but like all things these days, it’s based on based on a five-issue comic book series by Steve Moore via Radical Publishing.
