One critical note: he is hardly "the first celebrity showrunner." As a matter of fact, most people don't know who he is (or what Community is). Aaron Sorkin, Steven Bochco, Joss Whedon, JJ Abrams: these would be better examples of "celebrities" and even they are not that well known. Larry David made the leap to true fame by getting in front of the camera.
