I was not expecting this movie to be as good as it was. Scary movies latley are not that scary and not that smart. Oculus should be a good kick in the ass to film makers who who trot out the same old thing. Oculus is by far the best horror movie I've seen in years.

Is it possible we even saw the same movie? The real horror was having to sit through repetitive visuals that don't move the story forward to get to an ending you can see coming from a mike away. The major problem with the film is that it pretends to set up rules that it ultimately doesn't follow. Further, the cast is a coterie of true dullards who bring little-to-no emotional engagement, thereby denuding the requisite horror. This is a C- at best.
