Are all of Woody Allen\’s movies vanity projects? What about the movies of Charlie Chaplin? John Waters? Quentin Tarantino? Orson Welles?

Are we so uncomfortable with art as a culture that we can only tolerate a “few” people as making interesting art, and those people have to fit some kind of model- and even then we only seem to allow one or two people who fit that model to participate.

It all seems so deeply repressed, lazy, not very creative, certainly not revolutionary and silly.

All her stuff is vanity projects, I think Mike Mills is a more interesting filmmaker.

I like the movie more now reading this interview than I liked it while watching it. The first half is great, but the second half is such a left turn.
