I can't really argue with your criticisms, because it's a matter of what one wants out of this movie. I didn't want anything more or less than what this movie delivered in terms of the story/characters, and I was gripped by its style.

One correction to make, though: this was shot on 16mm film, so it's "gritty 16mm handheld," not "gritty digital handheld."
