On the grammar comments … Merriam-Webster is the preferred source for those of us using the AP Stylebook. MW states that it should be "Wish I Were Here." I had an editor grind this one into my brain years ago, stating that anytime the word "wish" is used, you're in the subjunctive mood, and "were" is to be used. You know what? To avoid the mess, they should have just called the movie something else. 🙂 That's one of the rules of writing: When in doubt, rewrite. 🙂

The correct grammar is "I wish I were here", because 'wish' is a subjunctive, and the proper match to a subjunctive is 'were'. Also, the rule applies to the 'if', as in "If I were a grammar teacher, I'd shoot myself every time I saw this grammatical error being made, which is daily."
How could a incorrectly constructed grammatical title be nominated for the Oscars, did we forget basic English? Yes, I think so.

Finally someone else not gushing over this film. Faux-art that uses every emotional curve ball in the book to try and milk its audience to tears. I don't understand the love for this wholly mawkish flop.

Garden State was not worthy of a "follow up" but obviously some people on Kickstarter thought it was. Kickstarter is a great way to fund a worthy project preferably one that is not of the cookie cutter/remake variety that are currently being churned out by the major studios. Another thing to keep in mind is to take advantage of social media like toppublicitycompany.com to get your film the visibility it needs to become successful.

If this turns out to be a complete s*** show, I hope it doesn't discourage people from using Kickstarter. Unless we're talking about projects done by rich people who don't really need your money…

" pop culture pariah"…. i love it. i remember seeing 'garden state' at the arclight on sunset and loving/hating its preciousness. everyone in the theater was confused about the hotel scene and wondered why method man hadn't been caught. either way, yeah, it doesn't hold up. i still enjoy it when it comes on ifc or encore. lot of good nostalgia.
