I question whether you have ever watched The Thin Blue Line if you think this film is anything like that. The Thin Blue Line was a documentary. The interviews were of real people, not actors. Thw audience was never tricked into thinking a reenactment was the real thing. The Imposter is merely a fiction film posing as a documentary. You might as well watch The fiction film "The Chameleon" about the same people and events rather than watch another fiction film posing as a documentary just as Bourdin posed as the missing boy. The filmmaker of The Imposter is just as clever as the Bourdin as posing as someone he is not.
