Children will always play out and explore their aggression, despair and fears. It\’s as adults that we are supposed to have control over these emotions. The horror comes from the mother\’s inability to save her child, or her sanity, and the realistic ending is about the way that both collude with each other to make them both safe. A totally brilliant if disturbing story.
