"With the countless number of romantic comedies focused on how difficult it is for a woman to find a good man, it’s incredibly refreshing to see one where the tables are turned."

I think the last 15 minutes of the film proved that ultimately this film is a narrative about a woman whose "dysfunctions" are solved by realizing that a "good man" was always right in front of her. Save the Date is filled with generic, if not outright lazy, rom-com tropes. Moreover it wastes the talents of the cast through terrible dialogue and a strangely politically conservative outlook of gender and family.

Couldn't disagree more. Save the Date is the very definition of middle-of-the-road romantic comedy insubstantiality, and I think that, outside the bubble of Sundance, it's going to be recognized for what it is -- a lightweight stab at the Judd Apatow school of romantic comedy humanism that fails to capture anything truly affecting or authentic.
