Grimness? Oh dear, not THAT! For those who are too immature to appreciate dark stories, might I suggest Mary Poppins? As someone who has no problem with "depressing" films, I think I'll check this one out. Ingmar Bergman never lifted a finger to coddle his viewers and I'll always be grateful. Hurray for uncompromising filmmakers who exist in an industry obsessed with creating palatable products for escapist consumers.

By the way, Rodrigo, please stay out of the comments section. YOU'VE ALREADY HAD YOUR SAY. When you respond to those who disagree with you, it makes you look immature and insecure. If your "review" cannot speak for itself, then you've done something wrong.

The memoir that its based on has some truly laugh out loud funny moments to counter the sadness. Its a shame they are not included in the movie - yet I'd argue that simply because a movie is sad, that certainly doesn't make it bad. I thought Glenn Close and all the performances were absolutely first rate.

I'll watch that cast in anything, especially those 2 leads and besides, Perez's problem of it being just too depressing sounds just about right for this kind of film.
