With all due respect to your thoughtful review of what I believe is a masterful film, I take issue with your criticism of the director's decision to cast judgement, albeit extremely subtly, on the Ann Dowd character at the end. In the film's narrative, as well as in the documented evidence of the true-life event, we are shown the brief moment that she sees her fiancé in the room with the girl in a clearly inappropriate dynamic (in both real time and in the final TV interview), even by the "brainwashed" behavioral standards that she has succumbed to over the course of the evening. It would be illogical and reckless not to cast some degree of judgement on that.
