So Summit isn't releasing TREE OF LIFE. They are just the sales agent of the film internationally. If you look at the films listed on the page you linked to, like HAPPY-GO-LUCKY you will notice that Miramax is releasing it domestically, not Summit. The Great Buck Howard also doesnt have a domestic distributor.
From what i understand the film is still looking for a US distributor but are currently in post-production.

Yea...F the extended version of The New World. I want to see a longer cut of The Thin Red Line, replete with the rest of Hans Zimmer's music! IMDB says the working print of the film was just under 6 hours long, and that Zimmer composed four hours of musical cues. And to go along with that, apparently Billy Bob Thorton recorded voice over narration for the whole thing (although I like the individual actors doing the voice overs) and Bill Pullman, Gary Oldman, Viggo Mortensen, Mickey Rourke, and Lucas Haas had roles in the movie that were cut. These were probably along the lines of George Clooney's (who, to be honest, barely made it in the film at the end) but still they would be to see.

But alas, this cut will probably become just a thing of speculation and never see the light of day, much in the same way as the Apocolypse Now 4-hour working print. Still, it'd be nice if they at least released a special blu-ray edition of the film. I'd buy that for a dollar.
