At the very least it was about Eleven/Jane learning about how to get the most out of her powers with some training and this allowed her to close the gate. I think we see more of eight in S3 too which is alright by me.

I watched this series with thoughts of enjoying it, not nit picking it apart. Seems like a lot of ppl were at the least skeptical about S2 and some were kinda hoping it flopped. I wanted to continue to enjoy the ride and for sure I did.
