It is essentially a quiet drama about grief. Not really something that aligns with the Steve Carell brand. With the exception of one great, very dark and creepy scene in the middle, there isn\’t a whole lot going on. And it certainly isn\’t a laugh riot.

So I gather that either Carell is going for a Ben Stiller \”Permanent Midnight\” sort of a deal or the producers have chucked the book and early draft and transformed this into some kind of \”Dr. Doolittle.\”
