There is one genuinely heartbreaking moment in the book – seriously, if pulled off it'll make everybody cringe – but everything else was wishy-washy sentimental crap. Daldry will likely pack it with Oscar winners and crank up the schmaltz.

Not really a fan of the book, but Daldry will suck out whatever artfulness was there.
