Because that’s the critic score. They liked it so it has a 92% rating from critics. The audience score was significantly lower.

It’s not suspicious at all. Rotten Tomatoes have said they investigated the score to see if tampering had been going on and found no evidence that it had. Some people just don’t think it’s a good film.

Sorry to say – its not hardcore white fanboys having angerfits. Or trolls from Russia meddling with a huge american moviecompany. Its just REAL true fans that once fell in love with a saga and now finds this movie to be… utter crap. I did. And Im not a russian agent or a troll.

I have yet to talk to anyone I know IRL that didn’t like it (both hard core fans and casuals).
I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m starting to think people are trolling rottentomatoes as some kind of payback for low scoring DC movies.

I liked Rogue One, too. I’m not all that interested in seeing this film.

Oh please, if anyone’s demonstrating a disconnect from reality it’s you. Hifalutin? Cinema has never been a high art form and critics would be the first to recognize that. What exactly is “always feeling traditional disdain for to the point of no grasp or understanding for its qualities”?? use words much?

Especially considering that star wars would seem to have the kind of built in audience that somethings do that just never fails regardless of quality or not.

But it should be no big secret that critics can be an elitist group of people who don’t necessarily relate to or respect the average audience for the medium that they’re supposed to be experts in. Let alone when we’re talking about genre entertainment that highfalutin metropolitan critics have ALWAYS held a traditional disdain for to the point of no grasp or understanding for its qualities. They judge genre entertainment on a scale of THINGS OTHER then its quality as genre entertainment.

But there might be something even more on display to this stark discord between the audience and the professional critic.

The movie is kind of a mess. It has some of the best moments of the series, definitely, but there’s a disconnect between its critical reception and the good but wonky film itself. It’s like every other bloated blockbuster out there. And it makes the Force Awakens look positively slick and streamlined by comparison.
