I couldn\'t agree less. I saw JLM as the Creature first, and found myself mesmerised. I wasn\'t expecting to like this at all, but was absorbed by the story (of which I knew little more than \"scientist creates monster\"). The words on everyone\'s lips as I left were \"how can JLM be topped?\". When I booked to see the re-showing, I found that he coulldn\'t. Cumberbatch was more suited to Frankenstein, but I couldn\'t feel for his Creature as I had done for JLM\'s. To be honest I found the part of Frankenstein to be a little more understated than I would have expected, but Cumberbatch did bring out the best in him.
So a one-all from me, JLM as the Creature, Benny as Frankenstein. .

Ive seen both versions and Cumberbatch gave the far superior performance in both roles. Jonny\'s a lovely guy but he did not bring enough depth to his performances. In particular his Victor was quite poor. A one note performance in fact. Cumberbatch was astouding in both roles. His creature was the greatest stage performance Ive ever seen and Ive seen some wonderful ones in my time.
