No, it is BASED on a true story. The unsuccessful escape in the middle of the movie and the big action scene at the end were complete fabrications, and Mark Wahlberg’s character in real life was nothing like he was in the movie (apparently, he was a complete ninny who repeatedly screwed things up). Instead, he was Delroy Lindo from Ransom.

And I didn’t say it was inferior to Hannibal, I said it was inferior to Ransom. Hannibal is a noteworthy abomination, both as a book and a movie.

It was much better than Hannibal (which is Ridley’s worst film by far).

Anyway, this was hardly a ‘rip-off’. It’s a true story.

It served its purpose, and now it’s just a disease ruining the lives of people whose past actions were, for the most part, merely inappropriate, as well as people who are just victims of liars.

I saw it too, and only thought it was so-so. I saw it as nothing more than a vastly inferior ripoff of Ransom, with a bit of Hannibal thrown in. Plummer was good though.

I saw the film on the big screen precisely because I wanted to champion Ridley Scott’s quick and admirable decision to replace a sex offender with another actor. It’s a good film by the way, so if it has failed at the box-office, that’s a shame (maybe too many people still associated the film with Spacey).

Well not as big as a bomb if it was nominated for some awards and won. If they kept Kevin in that picture, it would be bashed to kingdom come, and it will be protest out of the theaters by every advocate groups & the Metoo movement. The company would have to do a whole 2 weeks of damage control and backpeddling just to keep the stockholders happy. it’s never a win/win in hollywood.

When I was a teenager, I used to go to Laser Quest a lot. There, you get to pick your name, and my friends and I used to try and outdo each other with the most violent names imaginable. Bloodgusher, Braineater, Throatslicer, Boneshredder, etc. The lady behind the counter never batted an eye. Then one day, I said my name would be “Corpse Rapist” and she almost started crying. She was like, “No, come on, not that, pick something else.” So I was like, “Okay, just The Rapist.” And she started begging me not to pick that. I swear she was going to start crying. So I just sighed and said, “All right, give me Bile Chugger.”

Wether you love or hate him, QT is one of the most unique voices in cinema of the last 25 years. To not let a film artist of his level continue to work over some idiotic comments is absurd and nonsensical. Perhaps, Picasso should have not been allowed to paint anymore for a TON of the stuff he did in his time that many would find offensive. Art is art, the QT has committed NO CRIMES. He said something stupid 10 years ago and apologized. Move on from this witch hut.
